Short Story Contest 2018

Have you ever felt the flame of shame flaring up behind your ears as your best-looking class-mate explains to you that they just have ”too much on their plate” right now to date anyone? Ever had your whole world turned on its end after meeting your biggest idol – who turned out to be a class A douchebag? Or have you seriously considered leaving the country after failing your favourite subject?
Put it on paper!
Now Ergo wants to read your short story on the subject of unrequited love!

The theme of this year’s short story contest arranged by Ergo magazine is “Unrequited love”. Email your entry to by 12th of August the latest (write “Short story contest” as the subject). The winning short story will be published in the first issue of Ergo this upcoming fall and receive a 2000 kronor gift voucher at The Student Book Shop (Studentbokhandeln).

– The contestant must be an Uppsala student.
– The entry must be written in English or Swedish.
– The entry must be between 5 000 and 10 000 characters long, including blanks (spaces).
– The entry may not have been published in any other medium prior to the competition, including, for example, private blogs.
– Only one author per entry is allowed.
– The short story should take place in Uppsala and in some way incorporate the theme of unrequited love.

The contest is arranged together with The Student Book Shop (Studentbokhandeln).
